Continued From Newsletter Covenant, with 144 one- two- and three-bedroom units, is NOAH’s largest complex. And with an average of four or five people per unit, that is more than 600 people who can breathe easier now that they do not have to worry about blue tarps flapping in the wind of a 2006 storm. Kinsler estimates the damage to Covenant Villas to have been about $300,000, paid for by the insurance company and money from the county. Residents were able to remain in their homes while they awaited repairs. Fourteen of 44 units at the Amaryllis Gardens apartment complex in Belle Glade remain uninhabitable due to hurricane damage as NOAH awaits money from the United States Department of Agriculture and insurance companies. The process has been slowed by red tape and the farm workers who lived in those units will to continue to wait. The damage at Amaryllis is estimated to exceed a half million dollars.
