Continued From Newsletter "My husband and I moved from Royal Palm Beach to Lauderhill because of the excessive driving we did for over a year (he works at the AiFL also),” she said. "Since moving to Lauderhill and working downtown in Fort Lauderdale in the last five years, I have rarely been able to attend a NOAH meeting because I normally teach at the time when the Board meets. I no longer serve as a functioning and effective member of the Board of NOAH and feel that this does, in turn, not serve the community, which needs people who can actively participate in NOAH affairs." NOAH Executive Director Thomas Roberts said Dr. Reuter's high energy, tremendous insight and concern for Glades residents will be missed. Dr. Reuter is proud of the work NOAH is doing. "Without question, I am proudest of NOAH's ability to provide additional, affordable housing in the economically depressed Glades area,” she said. “Mrs. McClendon, and Mr. Roberts worked extremely hard to secure grants and monies to make that possible. I would like to see them go in the same direction ... they are very successful at providing affordable housing, and securing the funds to make that happen for the people of Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay." McClendon said keeping ethnic and racial diversity on the board is important in a replacement for Dr. Reuter. She also hopes to find someone with certain skills, such as an engineer, banker or finance manager, who can help secure grants and understands the needs and goals of the organization and the industries it works with. Anyone interested in joining NOAH’s Board of Directors should forward their resume to board member Alma Henry-Mormon via the NOAH Offices. For information, call (561) 996-2300. Return to Newsletter |
